SHOW 90: APR 14-APR 21, 2017
Billy Preston came out of the blues and gospel scene of South Central Los Angeles as a child prodigy playing organ at an early age with the likes of Mahalia Jackson and Nat King Cole before touring the world with Ray Charles and Little Richard. Later he was known as the “5th” Beatle after becoming the only musician to receive credit on a Beatles recording. He scored a handful of number one pop hits during his solo career like 'Nothing from Nothing' (#1) and 'Outa-Space (#2). Author Steve Bergsman discusses all of this in his new book, ‘The Friends of Billy Preston.’ A historical work of fiction that documents Billy’s involvement and tremendous contributions with the most important musicians of his day.
